The German Winster Violin Company is located in Mitenwald, Bavaria, Germany. It was formerly one of the Katz family violin workshops and was later acquired by a German violinist. The various violin products of the Katz family were already well-known worldwide in the mid-19th century. This also gives Mitenwald, a small town located in the valley of the Isar River with typical Alpine characteristics, the reputation of being the "hometown of German violin manufacturing".
The Winston Violin Development Center is adjacent to the churches of St. Peter and Paul, which is the number one landmark of the town. It was founded in the 15th century and was decorated by Baroque artist Joseph Schmuzer (1683-1752) in 1740. Outside the church stands a monument commemorating Matthias Klotz, who and his family introduced the manufacturing process of string instruments from Cremona, Italy in 1684. Today, Winster Violin Company still adheres to all the unique processes and assembly techniques of the Katz family's handmade violin, with dozens of experienced craftsmen. Their violin works are sold worldwide and are loved by performers and violin enthusiasts.
